It is like 15-20 in from head to start of tail, mainly brown, but scaly mixed w/light brown, and maybe blackish. It's beak is small, yellow, and smaller then it's head, and curved down. It's falcon, or hawk like, it's eyes are red or yellow, can't remember
Sounds like it might be a Cooper's Hawk, but would need a photo to be sure. You can look it up here:
